In March 2024, I wrote about the trajectory of my country, Georgia, since its independence in 1991. I lamented the mind-boggling rise of Marxism in the West, which, tragically, pushed Georgia back into the Russian orbit.

At the time of this writing, in February 2025, the popular tide in the West has finally turned against the radical Left, first and foremost, in the USA. People have elected Donald Trump and the Republicans have cemented majorities both in the Congress and Senate. The Supreme Court was already majority conservative, thanks to Trump’s efforts in his first term. As an admirer of the Western civilization, I rejoice the change tremendously. I regard this nascent recovery of the West from the global leftist cabal and woke pathocracy as Great Normalization, hence the name of my publication.

There will no doubt be many twists and turns in this process in years to come. In this publication, I focus on the following questions:

  • How deep is really this normalization? Is it a fundamental reversal of about 60 years of progressivism, which brought the Western civilization to its precipice? Or is it limited to an election cycle or two, after which the left comes back with vengeance?

  • Will the UK manage to pull off its restoration, or is it beyond recovery?

  • Will the Western Arts and Culture be liberated from the leftist ideology and will it embrace the True, Good and Beautiful again?

  • Will the EU fall apart? The bloc, with its current despotic utopian ideas, such as Net Zero and Multiculturalism and totalitarian methods, such as the suppression of free speech and banning of challenger opposition parties, does not appear compatible with the urge of many European nations to recover their sovereignty and cultural identity.

  • What kind of foreign policy will the US practice outside the Western Hemisphere? This will influence the fate of my country, Georgia. It is clear that the new policy will be more realistic. It won’t be ideological and there will be no more imposition of woke pathology on our people. This is good. However, will it be purely transactional, devoid of any principle, or will the US hold Georgia’s government responsible for upholding fundamental institutions, such as fair elections, functional courts and free speech?
